The ultra-wideband (UWB) technology has become a candidate for short-range and high speed wireless personal area network (WPAN) and has a wide applied prospect in radio communication areas. The improving of the performance of the binary PAM-TH UWB system is studied in this thesis.The primary contents of the thesis are as following:Through using the UWB indoor channel model proposed by IEEE 802.15.3a study group, in the presence of the multi-user interferes, the expression for the SINR is educed. The performance of the 2PAM-TH-MA UWB system based on spatially combining is analyzed and simulated. Numerical results show that the BER performance of the system can be enhanced by spatial diversity combining.Carrier wave is introduced to the transmitter of the 2PAM-TH UWB system, and the ideal Rake receiver, the choosing Rake receiver and the part Rake receiver with the maximum ratio combining (MRC) are applied to the receiver.Then the performance of the 2PAM-TH UWB system is analyzed with different multi-path components, and the performance of the 2PAM-TH UWB system with and without carrier wave are compared by simulating. Numerical results indicate the BER performance of the 2PAM-TH-UWB system with the part Rake receiver can be enhanced,and is approach to the ideal receiver after adding carrier wave.Under the condition of an ideal AWGN channel and the multi-users, the performance of the classical 2PAM-TH UWB system and the coded 2PAM- TH UWB system are analyzed。For the proposed coded scheme, Viterbi algorithm (VA) and Soft Output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA) are applied to the decoder so that the BER of the system is reduced. Both the upper bound and lower bound of bit error probability are presented。The performance simulation of the classical 2PAM-TH UWB system and the coded 2PAM- TH UWB system is carried out. Numerical results reveal that the coded 2PAM-TH UWB system gains performance upgradation with respect to 2PAM-TH UWB system,and the performance of the coded 2PAM-TH UWB system with SOVA is the best of them.
